The Clinical Nurse V (Advanced Practice Oncology Nurse) within the Division of Patient Care Services assure the highest quality of care is provided throughout the hospital stay for a specific patient population or disease process in support of departmental and institutional goals. The role of this position is to assure the provision of expert Oncology nursing care through consultation and education of oncology staff and patients. This role collaborates with multiple disciplines, sharing the most current knowledge and utilizing sound research for the planning and coordination of nursing care for this caseload of complex patients. This position will be an expert resource person for health care providers including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff.. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will evaluate and advance care processes and delivery through direct engagement, quality improvement projects, and analysis of outcome data.REQUIRED - Valid CA RN license - Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. - Master of Science in Nursing with a Clinical nurse Specialist and/or Nurse Practitioner license. - Must have several years demonstrated recent acute care experience in Oncology, Clinical Nurse Specialist experience highly desirable. Prior experience with clinical trials is desirable. - Demonstrated organizational skills, strategic planning and administrative skills for developing and implementing new protocols, pathways and programs. - Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of or ability to learn complex PC software programs -Must be able to complete the UCDMC Medication Exam, I.V. Certification and CPR Certification.
