The Pediatric Surge Coordinator supports the mission of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Emergency Response Office (EPO) contract to support statewide efforts to ensure CDPH programs, local health departments and healthcare facilities prepare for, respond to and recover from public health emergencies. The Pediatric Surge Coordinator provides a lead role in developing and coordinating a Pediatric Surge Work Group and strategic plan.REQUIRED--Demonstrated experience and skills in applying the principles and practices of planning related to Emergency Management or Response.--Demonstrated experience working with the California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and the Incident Command System (ICS) is highly desired.--Demonstrated experience and familiarity with hospital administration or pediatric care highly desired. --Experience and skills in reviewing emergency plans and identifying deficiencies. --Experience and skills in developing training material and making presentations. --Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people. Respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of state staff from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.--Experience in policy development, guidance documents and risk communication.--Experience in working and coordinating with state, county, and municipal governments. --Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to prepare accurate and detailed briefs and materials appropriate for audiences of all levels, including executive leadership.--Ability to use standard personal computer software such as Microsoft Office--Skills to interpret, understand and implement complex policy.
