This position reports directly to the Heart Center Advanced Practice Nurse Manager. The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner is an expert in the pre and post-procedure management of cardiovascular patients who undergo invasive and noninvasive procedures and participates in the medical management of this population across the spectrum of care. Responsibilities include acute and subacute clinical care, research and program development, professional practice development, and education.REQUIRED: - National certification as a Nurse Practitioner - Current California NP license and furnishing license - Current California R.N. license - CPR/ACLS Certification. - PALS certification if required in clinical area. - Completion of hospital Medication Exam and I.V. Therapy Exam - Completion of hospital Moderate Sedation Certification - Master of Science in Nursing. - Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing - Minimum of 3 years critical care experience - Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in care of cardiovascular patients PREFERRED - Minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a nurse practitioner working in an acute care environment.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - Must be able to work overtime as required. - Must be able to work occasional overtime, flexible hours; day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. - Must wear uniform in accordance with UC Health System policy. - Ability to lift 25 pounds, see well enough to read gauges. - Ability to wear radiation safety apparel weighing up to 25 lbs. and stand on feet for extended periods of time. - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
