Primary Responsibilities:Pre-registers and / or registers patients according to departmental policy and procedureEnters patient information and charges into appropriate systemProvides patients with all pertinent information and obtains appropriate signatures on medical, legal and financial formsVerifies financial / insurance information using appropriate database retrieval systemsProvides guidance and assistance to patients and staff members with regard to insurance regulationsAccepts payment from patients; reconciles cash payments and provides appropriate feedback to Supervisor regarding various payment and / or cash issuesDirects patients to appropriate areas following registrationPerforms various related clerical duties supporting department operations including, but not limited to, answering telephone maintaining files, scanning, keeping inventory of supplies, and informing management of all activities, needs and problemsMaintains current knowledge base regarding insurance information and managed care guidelines; maintains knowledge base of designated networks based upon managed care contracts in order to provide assistance to patientsDemonstrates ability to utilize data retrieval insurance eligibility systemsParticipates in quality control activitiesReviews, assesses and evaluates patient registrations to ensure accuracy of demographic and financial information; and corrects erroneous registrations and informs SupervisorPerforms related duties, as required
Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED1+ years of experience in Customer ServiceFamiliarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applicationsCandidates in this role will work full time, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule and work overtime and / or weekends as neededPreferred Qualifications: Any previous hospital or physician's office patient registration experienceExperience in insurance reimbursement and financial verificationBilingual fluency in English and SpanishCareers with OptumInsight.
