Join us and help people live healthier lives while doing your life's best work.The Payroll Specialist is responsible for payroll payments to employees, general deduction management and coordination of effort with other HC departments to ensure accurate and timely results, with an emphasis on the garnishment process. This employee's knowledge and skills will allow them to troubleshoot issues and create new and improved processes.Primary Responsibilities:Assist with garnishment processingManage overpayments made to employees including communications, collection process, reporting according to state regulations, and accounting functionsResponsible for accurate and timely payroll entries, including STD payments, and other payline adjustmentsPartner with HRIS in payroll balancing process to identify any differencesMake recommendations to improve processes within payroll functionsCreate off-cycle payments to employees as a result of HRHD cases, termination pay, reductions in force, etc. and adhere to state regulations and company policyManage general deductions for employees, including financial fitness, garnishment refunds, benefit deductions / refunds, and collection of overpaymentsResearch errors and make recommendations for fixes for on-going issues Use knowledge and judgment to troubleshoot issues and problemsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employeesCollaborate with Benefits, Wealth, Rewards, Compensation and HR communities in the support of payroll changesMaintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers and vendorsOther projects as assigned
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GEDPrevious payroll experienceBasic proficiency with Microsoft Excel including running reports and manipulating dataIntermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word including creating, editing documents, creating letters, and mail mergesPreferred Qualifications: Previous garnishment processing experiencePeopleSoft experiencePrevious customer service experience in a call center environmentSoft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management skillsGreat organizational skillsCareerswith UnitedHealthcare.
