Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.SMThe Director of Data Platform will be responsible for Optum's Growth Enablement Team's data technologies including the BIGW data warehouse, the Master Data Management solution, and the data integrity functions. Primary Responsibilities: Managing a team of direct reports and consultants including responsibility for recruiting, hiring, motivating, coaching, and development of a technical and business staff.Provide leadership to and be accountable for the performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staffManaging strategic programs and projects involving data warehousing and master data management Developing, implementing and communicating the Growth Office technology architecture and applications plan, including the components required to support it Coordinating, administering and supporting activities related to data planning, data recovery and development and related projectsOverseeing multiple business operations projects simultaneously Ensuring the business is updated and engaged in the design, use, and status of the warehouseProviding risk management and issue/problem resolution as required Improving operational efficiency and effectiveness for warehouse technologies.Program management including software/technology development, business strategy and oversight of P&L and key success initiatives Integration of and adherence to corporate and technical policies and standardsOutlining high level technical feasibility and requirements and building concept phase business case(s) for new functionality Developing concepts, solution outlines, and requirements defining problem/opportunity, scope, objectives, deliverables, risks, strategies, timelines, budgets, resources required, along with defining sequencing and dependencies of other activities to support the data platform Assist with completing technical and business requirements to meet Optum capital request process Manage and own overall timelines for owned projects/initiatives; manage workflows and scope; monitor early-warning signals for deadline challenges and develop appropriate contingency strategies to ensure final end delivery on-time Lead and participate in cross-functional teams including internal and external constituents across non co-located geographies Manage the creation of deliverables including presentations, design outcomes, documents, spreadsheets, reports, and dashboards Engage functional partners across the Optum organization (Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, others) to deliver on business commitments, expand services, optimize costs, meet business needs and drive operational efficiencies
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience10+ years of experience in leading large, complex projects to achieve business objectives 5+ years of management experience with at least 5 direct reports (including hiring, coaching, and developing staff).5-8+ years of experience in enabling business operations through integrated people, process, and technology 5-8+ years of experience in the collaboration of work teams, both internal and external, and demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams in a geographically dispersed work environment5+ years of experience engaging and influencing senior business executives and senior IT executives5+ years of experience managing capital budgets Experience with data warehouses that have large number of complex data sourcesOutstanding presentation skillsAbility to travel domestically 25% of the yearProven ability to tackle business crisis situations, put plans in place to work through and resolve with clients and internal teams Preferred Qualifications: Experience in agile methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban)Experience with Kimball dimensional modelingExperience with complex analytics, modeling, and business rules processing Strong understanding of big data, data warehousing and master data management concepts and practicesExperience with one or more commercially available reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Salesforce Wave, Business Objects, Tableau, Cognos, SAS, etc.)Experience with one or more commercially available extract, transform, load (ETL) tools (e.g. Mulesoft, Cast Iron, SAP Data Services, SSIS, DataStage, etc.)Experience with one or more commercially available master data management (MDM) technologies (e.g. Reltio, Informatica, Initiate, etc.) Demonstrated process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and/or evaluation of business processes Ability to support business partners and operational delivery teams through data visualization Careers with Optum.
