The Agile Product Owner represents the voice of the business that defines user stories and prioritizes team backlog while maintaining the technical integrity of the Features or Components that the team is responsible to deliver. This is a cross-functional liaison role that reports into the Product Management office and coordinates work across several different work streams (IT and stakeholders) to fulfill the Business ask. This person acts as a Business Subject Matter Expert to the functional IT / Agile team while guiding Business Owners through user story prioritization, establishing acceptance criteria (Minimum Viable Product), and identifying gaps in the Standard Operating Environment (Business Process Improvements). Here, your passion for performance and innovation can fuel your life's best work.(sm) Primary Responsibilities:Share and decompose features into user stories (non-technical)Define and document acceptance criteria for each user story clearly to conform with Business Quality Assessment (BQA) standardDeliver team backlog, including milestones, to the agile teamTake responsibility for the development of ongoing enhancements, create and prioritize user stores with the agile teamsIdentify, define, analyze, prioritize and refine the requirements, and will communicate those milestones and visions to the development teamRepresent the business with the ability to prioritize tradeoffs, clarify requirements, and work to drive user stories to acceptance throughout the Agile software development lifecycleWork directly with our various internal and external stakeholders, including senior staff and department managers, as well as with focused development teams to ensure successful translation of those requirements into high-quality product deliverablesOngoing backlog grooming to get the user stories to a 'Ready' state for development teamsParticipating in Sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings and provide feedback to the teams Answer questions identified during sprint planning sessions and daily scrumFormally accepts the user stories once all acceptance criteria are met and demonstratedDisplay a practical understanding of agile principles and practicesDevelop a deep understanding of the customer and product needsAct as a recognized voice of the customer to the team, on behalf of the businessRecord business requirements in the product / team backlogEnsure traceability between requirements, features, and user storiesReview test cases against user stories' acceptance criteriaPeriodically re-prioritizes the team backlog based on customer feedback, market changes, and business priority (as communicated by the Product Manager)Actively participates in release planning sessionsOwn the continual acceptance criteria for business valueLead the system demo with the teamParticipate in the solution PI demoEnsure that all goals and milestones have been metVerify value was provided to the business
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or 8 years of additional relevant experience5 years of experience with Project Management and / or Business Analysis Experience driving teams and management to decisions and obtaining difficult information and answers Experience working with cross functional teams Experience working with various teams simultaneously Experience systematically analyzing problems, drawing relevant conclusions, and devising appropriate courses of action Experience in working with Agile / Scrum work environment as a Product Owner: writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook Preferred Qualifications:Ability to effectively break down barriers to maintain progress on initiativesDiplomatic with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills Healthcare insurance industry experience Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with both technical and business audiences Demonstrate strategic thinking by using appropriate information to diagnose problems, identify possible solutions and collaborate with impacted groups to drive decisions Self-directed and able to drive detailed solutions to completion with minimal oversight Experience working with EMR systemsKnowledge of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)Willingness to be hands-on with technologyCareers with Optum.
