It is the epidemiologist's responsibility to lead the project team scientifically, participate in the submission of the project deliverables to the client on time and on budget, and ensure that the results are understood by the client. Primary Responsibilities:Provide scientific direction and guide project execution in collaboration with the project manager Prepare analytic plans in collaboration with research analysts Prepare protocols, deliverables, reports Seek appropriate review of deliverables Direct client contact with or without senior scientist in collaboration with the project manager Present results to clients with or without project team or senior scientist Participate in business development Participate in proposal writing effort Serve as internal reviewer of deliverables/reports/manuscripts prepared by other Epidemiologists May serve as project manager
Required Qualifications:Master's degree in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, or health services 5+ years of research in a health care research, industry, consulting, or academic environment Prior experience working with and analyzing large databases (administrative claims healthcare data preferred) Experience applying advanced pharmacoepidemiologic methods, such as propensity score-based approaches, is desired Knowledge of study design, research methodology and statistical analysisPreferred Qualifications:Doctorate in pharmacoepidemiology, epidemiology, or health services Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong organizational and problem solving skills Ability to work independently and as leader of a teamCareers with Optum.
