The Clinical Nurse Educator is a nurse with previous educational and Perioperative services experience whose focus is on staff development and nursing education .This nurse is an educator, consultant, role model, staff/patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost effective professional .In collaboration with nursing leadership, the Clinical Nurse Educator designs, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of professional offerings in order to improve nursing care and clinical/organizational outcomes. The Clinical Nurse Educator elevates the standard professional nursing practice at MSH developing, coaching, and mentoring staff to become expert clinicians and leaders.
Responsible for Perioperative services department orientation manual and individual unit orientation manuals.
Keep abreast and follow Standards /Guidelines/Recommendations of accrediting and regulatory agencies ( JC, IDPH, AORN.AMMI & ASPAN) and in-service/update caregiverson new guidelines/standards/recommendations.
Organizeand schedule; collaborate with unit managers in establishing and developing a comprehensive Annual/bi-annual calendarunit based competencies
Represents Perioperative services in monthly Infection Control rounds in OR.PACU,ENDO, OPS/IPHA, & SPD.
BSN requires, Master of Science in Nursing or related educational field preferred
3 years of clinical practice in specialty area
Previous experience in role as educator
Current RN Illinois License
Certification in specialty area preferred or obtained within 1 year of hire
