BriovaRx, now part of United Health Group, is a growing specialty pharmacy handling the high touch needs of patients requiring the ever growing market of specialty drugs. Weekly responsibilities include prescription verification, drug utilization review, inbound and outbound phone calls, handling daily issues and needs for workflow, counseling patients, and monitoring workflow. Eight hour shifts Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays if there is a business need. Hours vary from 7:30am - 5:30pm depending on responsibility for the week. Based in our Birmingham, Alabama facility, the Staff Pharmacist, is responsible for primary clinical roles including the correct dispensing of medication as well as counseling and information for patients and providers. Primary Responsibilities:Supports inherent leadership and supervisory role for technicians and non - clinical employees Demonstrates competence in patient management, fulfillment, and clinical areas Performs Clinical review of prescription orders for basic appropriateness of therapy or plan specific criteria review i.e., Prior Authorization Verifies patient orders for completeness and accuracy before being sent to fulfillment i.e., prospective DUR including allergies, interactions, contraindications, etc. Verifies data entry of all prescriptions entered into the pharmacy system by pharmacy technicians Counsels patients according to OBRA 90 standards and answers patient questions about medications; both phone in and walk - in patients Accepts physician calls for new prescriptions or questions about our services or Specialty medications Effectively utilizes clinical tools Assists non - clinical employees by answering questions related to medication therapies Organizes workload, sets priorities, completes assignments in a timely manner and utilizes resources appropriately while complying with department program standards Transfers prescriptions in and out and to other pharmacies as appropriate Supervises and educates pharmacy technicians ensuring Continuous Quality Improvement Fully participates in the pharmacist rotation for on - call Conforms with and supports department quality assurance and improvement guidelinesLeads special projects as assigned and performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Qualifications:BS or Pharm D in Pharmacy Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of Alabama3+ years of experience working as a licensed PharmacistStrong knowledge in applicable state and federal pharmacy laws Proficient computer skills with the ability to navigate MS Office, a Windows based environment and the ability to navigate Outlook and conduct Internet searchesMust be able to work the designated shift (as needed)Preferred Qualifications: Specialty Pharmacy experienceAdditional State Pharmacist licenses a plusCareers with OptumRx.
