Measures and accurately applies electrodes according to the 10/20 International System in a timely manner, according to laboratory standards. Ensures that electrode impedances meet lab standards.
Compiles a patient history gathering appropriate information from patient’s record, and family members to include any sleep disturbance.
Interviews patient to assess current medications, recent caffeine or alcohol ingestion, and current sleep patterns.
Titrates nasal CPAP and Bilevel Noninvasive Ventilation according to department policy. Records effects on test log.
Understands the indications, contraindications, and adverse effects of positive airway pressure.
Has knowledge of appropriate actions to take during patient emergencies and insures patient safety 9 electrical 0 at all times.
Demonstrates basic knowledge to identify normal and abnormal patterns such as seizures for all procedures done by technologist. Recognizing the clinical correlation of abnormal EEG patterns with various disease states.
Responsible for making appropriate status changes and charges on patients using hospital divisional computer according to policy.
Must have appropriate training to fulfill job requirements, usually completion of first year of a formal Electroneurodiagnostic (ENDT) school or Polysomnographic technologist Program.
Prefer graduate of a formal ENDT program or Polysomnographic Technologist Program.
