Responsible for the coordination of clinical services on an assigned shift. The House Supervisor is contrasted from the Clinical Nursing Director in that the former has operational responsibility on an assigned shift while the latter has twenty-four hour coverage of personnel and activities for nursing units. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required: 1. Knowledge of: Modern principles, techniques, and procedures of nursing; Hospital routine, supplies and equipment; Principles and techniques of effective supervision and administration; Working knowledge of policies regarding unit staffing patterns; Problem solving techniques, team building principles and infection control as it relates to bed assignments. 2. Ability to: Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and review the activities of assigned services; Supervise, instruct, motivate, and train professional and nonprofessional employees; Analyze needs of clinical services in terms of personnel, equipment, and supplies; Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical operations; Establish and maintain systems of records and reports; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships; Apply management principles; Relate and work effectively with others. 3. Current State of Michigan Registered Nursing License. 4. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field preferred. 5. Experience: Three years of progressively responsible nursing experience on the nursing staff of an acute care hospital. At least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred. 6. BCLS certification within 90 days of start date. 7. ACLS within 6 months of start date. 8. Must successfully meet screening requirements and annual training necessary for ongoing work in McReynolds Hall. Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to provide care for patients in the following age groups: Infant - Birth to 1 year; Child – 2 to 12 years; Adolescent – 13 to 17 years; Adult – 18 to 65 years; Geriatric – over 65.
