Challenge yourself, your peers and our industry by shaping what health care looks like and doing your life's best work.(sm) The Coordination of Benefits (COB) is a team of approximately 500 people, tasked with delivering a $1.6 billion medical spend savings target through the identification of members who have insurance with another payer. This Director role will support the Senior Director of COB and the wider COB team in delivering against this target. Specifically, this role will have full leadership responsibility for understanding, analyzing, managing (from a matrix viewpoint) and reporting on all the key metrics relevant to the success of the business – membership numbers/spend, inventory levels, Operational metrics, growth initiatives, costs etc. and how they impact on our savings at a segment and platform level. All forecasting, budgeting and metric planning activities for the COB business will also be the responsibility of the Director, with input from the relevant teams within the business. This is primarily a role that is focused on driving and improving the business through influencing how we enhance the savings by leveraging the quantitative measures available to us. As such, it requires a person who is highly numerate, is passionate about understanding the detail behind the numbers, and how to get value out of that information. This is not a Financial reporting role. Primary Responsibilities:Key member of COB leadership team Key contact point for all metric related COB information Manage a team of 5 - 10, all of whom will be direct reports Work in partnership with COB team and matrix partners to identify opportunities to increase medical spend savings Lead and facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes Track progress of COB performance against plan, identify any deviations and suggest plans to remediate; provide reports and analysis as required Effective management of team and achieve high vital signs scores Support all COB initiatives as necessary Reporting on COB activities and results in line with the specifics of the role Build strong relationship with key contacts in UnitedHealth Care Ad-hoc requests, as set out by the Senior Director of COB
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or relevant professional qualification Mathematical or statistical background, preferably gained within an actuarial environment Highly numerate, with a desire to focus on the quantitative aspects of the business Demonstrated leadership experience at a senior level Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goals Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on time Self-motivated with an ability to take initiative Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly aggregate and analyze information and draw conclusions Proven capability to influence and lead by example Strong verbal and communication skills with all levels in an organization Decision maker, strategic thinker and planner Effective problem solving Excellent attention to detail Preferred Qualifications:Masters Degree Healthcare industry experience Operations experience Careers with Optum.
