Under limited supervision, the mechanic is responsible for various maintenance, repair duties, and equipment to operate the hospital. He/she performs snow removal. On call hours are required. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Performs preventive maintenance as appropriate including HVAC repairs, temperature controls, boiler, emergency generator, refrigeration and plumbing to all hospital equipment. Completes record card for each job, or call hours as required.
Completes assigned work orders as appropriate in a timely manner. Keeps all TJC and CMS/CDPHE required equipment PM log books complete and up to date.
Trouble shoot fire alarm systems, door access control, pneumatic tube, HUGS, CATV, CCTV, duress and automatic door/maglock.
Assists as needed with all minor remodel and repairs on plumbing, drywalls, floor tile, baseboards and ceiling tiles.
Inspects and take a corrective action as needed, to comply with the Life Safety Code, fire & smoke wall penetration and conducts a monthly fire drill and documents the assessment.
Assists as needed in training the Plant Services Mechanic I as requested by the Plant Services Director. Facilitates, implements, monitors and leads the day-to-day activities within the Plant Services Department.

Education: High school graduation (GED) and a trade school certificate preferred.
Experience: Three (3) or more years of building repairs and construction experience preferred. Health care setting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Prefer the following skills: Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating and cooling systems, pneumatic and digital temperature control systems and steam boiler. This position may require interaction with people of all ages; therefore, the employee must have communications skills appropriate for people of all ages
