Interprets and transcribes anatomic pathology dictation to provide a permanent record of patient information. Prioritizes work in order to meet the needs of histology, cytology, and the pathologists. Provides general administrative support to pathologists to complete department work during routine and heavy workflow. Appropriately edits, revises and clarifies reports without altering the meaning of the dictation or changing the dictation style.
Applies knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and the English language as demonstrated by accurate transcribing and proofreading of reports.
Uses reference materials appropriately and efficiently to facilitate the accuracy, clarity and completeness of reports. Transcribes reports in order of priority to meet patient care needs as assigned by unit specific guidelines. Maintain the productivity standards as established by unit specific guidelines as evidenced by productivity reports and statistics.
