Performs proper and timely specimen collection in various settings remote from the central and operating unit laboratories. Collections and interactions with all customers performed using the AIDET patient care method; Inova Patient Safety policies for patient identification. Performs customer registration and test ordering in some remote locations while consistently and accurately utilizing proper tubes and collection order during venipuncture/capillary techniques. Accurately labels all specimens according to Inova policy. Provides patient and customer service using the AIDET principles and actively assuring quality of work by employing STAR and peer checking techniques. Performs patient registration/billing/test order procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure correct testing, reporting, billing and regulatory compliance. Accurately manages specimen preparation steps, storage, and packaging for transport of specimens according to PSC/Lab protocols preserving specimen integrity and quality that effects subsequent laboratory testing. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others (Inova coworkers; physicians, physician office administration and staff; care facility staff and leadership, government facility staff and leaders) to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
