The Helen F Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute (HFGCCRI) at Christiana Care Health System (CCHS) is looking to hire a full time Associate Director of Gene Editing Research to join our Translational Research & Gene Editing Institute.
The successful candidate will coo rdinate and facilitate translational research activities within and for the Gene Editing Institute (GEI) program, under the direction of Dr. Eric B. Kmiec, Ph.D. the Director of the GEI Program/CCHS. This person will obtain and develops new partnerships with outside groups to promote gene editing as genomic medicine. They will coordinate the writing and execution of documents for the clinical opportunities in the area of gene editing as cancer therapeutics.
This employed position is open due to organizational growth and will join an exceptional 18 person team comprised of PhD's, research scientists, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows amongst other colleagues. This person will be r esponsible for managing and overseeing the current research and development projects centered on the use of gene editing for the treatment of various cancers and inherited diseases.
Work closely with the Director of The GEI regarding new directions and discussions relating to the feasibility of current and future research projects.
Advise leadership on translational strength of the current projects and identify improvement initiatives and advancement opportunities.
Manage the ongoing and active relationships and collaborations between the Gene Editing Institute and The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia along with its other university and corporate partners.
Partner with organizational leadership on the development of strategic plans and newly developing ingenuities.
Play an intricate role in the translation of gene editing protocols from discovery phase to clinical phase (within the next 1 to 2 years).
Frequent speaking engagements and presentations relating to all phases of active and proposed projects in conjunction with the Gene Editing Institute.
Assist in the development and the writing of grant applications for federal, state and private sources of funding.
Prepare documents for FDA submission on gene editing protocols for human application.
