Identifies and abstracts specific data from within the medical record, and enters data into three different databases: Access, Vermont Oxford Network, and Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium for statistical reporting and quality improvement bench-marking. Required to maintain a minimum 97% accuracy rate. Fosters respect for patient privacy by maintaining confidentiality in all phases of abstracting process. Reports to the ICU Database Coordinator position.
High School graduate required.
At least one year of medical record processing preferred Assembly and analysis and previous coding abstracting and data entry experience highly desired.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Must have knowledge regarding purpose of all medical record forms.
Computer skills required. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Keyboard data entry skills with minimal errors.
Ability to work well (independently and productively) without direct supervision.
Must be highly detail oriented, have the ability to remain focused, and have good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Goal oriented and energetic.
