Christiana Care Health System is recruiting for a part time, 30 hours/week, Pediatric Occupational Therapist. The Pediatric OT will evaluate and treat patients ages birth through school age with a variety of diagnoses in the acute care (NICU), outpatient, natural environment settings, and developmental clinic as well as other contracted locations of service as required by physician's written order.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs patient evaluation, treatment, or supervision of treatment - Documents and maintains appropriate medical records including initial progress and discharge notes - Maintains up to date clinical records including but not limited to physician prescriptions and insurance authorizations - Provides positioning, handling, car seat testing, caregiver education in the NICU - Provides assessments and treatments at contracted locations of service in New Castle - Provides outpatient treatment of children birth through school age - Provides treatment of children, birth to three, in the Natural Environment (homes, daycares, preschools) in New Castle County. - Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient's needs, and to provide the care needed - Performs other related duties as required - Attends/participates in departmental meetings, inservice meetings, continuing education seminars, mandatory hospital programs, and workshops as required - Keeps work area and equipment neat and orderly to provide a safe working environment - Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science from accredited school of Occupational Therapy - Minimum of one year of dedicated pediatric experience preferred - Ability and willingness to travel between sites
