The Department of Epidemiology & Health Services Research (DEHSR) and the Cancer Institute at Geisinger, an integrated health system headquartered in Danville, Pennsylvania are seeking applicants for one full-time position in cancer epidemiology and outcomes research. Appointment may be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Geisinger seeks an individual who will work within the growing research enterprise and the Cancer Institute to align and leverage extensive research and practice resources and expertise within the health system.
The Geisinger Cancer Institute was awarded an NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) grant with a focus to increase the portfolio of clinical trials and cancer care delivery research (CCDR) studies. Geisinger’s research activities are currently organized in three primary departments, including DEHSR, and 12 centers, programs, and institutes, including those focused on cancer, environmental health, genomics/precision health, and obesity. System-wide, research brought in more than $50M in extramural funding in the current fiscal year.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: The successful candidate will have a PhD in Epidemiology and an established record of success of external funding support, or demonstrated potential to obtain external funding, for epidemiologic and health services research in cancer. Candidates should have strong methodologic skills, particularly in epidemiology, but also preferably in population health research or health services research as it relates to the cancer control continuum. Experience with pragmatic clinical trials or other innovative research methods is desirable. DEHSR currently has six full-time research faculty members that conduct research on chronic conditions, environment and community, cardiovascular, and combat exposure epidemiology, and health economics.
