Performs appropriate evidenced-based clinical interventions for adjustment to illness, trauma, crisis intervention, survivorship and grief. Refers patients/families and caregivers to appropriate resources to enhance positive patient outcomes. Documents in clinical record as appropriate. Acts as active multidisciplinary team member, to assure that patient is referred to appropriate health care and community resources to optimize treatment outcomes. Participates in patient and community psychoeducational programs. Facilitates support groups for specified disease processes or challenges related to cancer and other chronic or life limiting illnesses and assists with community outreach as needed. Strives to increase professional knowledge, develop expertise and obtain appropriate CEU's to maintain licensure.
Preferred / Desired
Experience in assessment and evidence-based/best practices of psychological treatment of mental health disorders and psychosocial problems relevant to a cancer and other chronic or life limiting illnesses diagnosis or serious illness in an inpatient or outpatient clinical setting, individually and with groups.
2 years post Masters level experience providing psycho-educational and behavioral health services in oncology, chronic illness, Hospice, palliative care, bereavement, trauma, wellness with individuals and groups.
4 years post Masters level experience providing psycho-educational and behavioral health services in oncology, Hospice, palliative care, trauma, experience supervising graduate students, proven ability to develop relevant programming for the oncology population, experiencing speaking in the community on oncology psychoeducational topics.
Education in a mental health discipline.
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or PhD in Clinical Psychology with internships in oncology, Hospice, palliative care, trauma, Mind/Body wellness.
Evidenced-based, specialized training to decrease distress and symptom burden in individuals with cancer and other chronic or life limiting illnesses.
Preference in one or more of the following: ADEC, Play Therapy, MBSR, MBCT, MBCT, MBCR, ACT, CBT-I, Sexual Health, Hypnotherapy, Family Therapy, Mind/Body wellness techniques, Art Therapy, Couples, Drumming, Human Research Protection, or grief and loss.
Certifications that demonstrate skill and knowledge to successfully decrease distress and symptom burden in individuals with cancer and other chronic or life limiting illnesses.

Professional Virginia License.
LCSW, LPC or Clinical Psychology.
Knowledge of DSM V assessment of depression, anxiety, adjustment to illness, PTSD disorders and skill in use of evidence- based psychotherapeutic interventions to establish treatment goals and achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to deliver psycho-educational approaches in a group setting and utilize program evaluations to improve outcomes.
Effectively uses mind/body strategies.
Ability to speak in the community and/or to colleagues.
Proficiency in use of electronic medical record.
Skill in working with interdisciplinary team.
CBT, Mind/Body wellness or Mindfulness, or Crisis intervention, Knowledge of DSM V.
Skilled in providing supervision to graduate student interns and presenting and speaking in the community and other settings.
Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC.
With supervision, is able to use distress screening and/or other psychological assessment tools. Employs psycho-educational approaches in a group setting.
