Respond to requests for engineering services from customers during assigned shifts to provide an environment that is free of hazards and conducive to patient care within available resources. Evaluate work requests for engineering services to ascertain if the task is within the employee's capabilities or resources or will require additional resources to meet the requests. Evaluate work requests requiring additional resources to determine if the work can be deferred to the next day shift or requires a call-in for immediate resolution. Performs preventive or assigned maintenance tasks when not responding to service requests to assist in the accomplishment of the department maintenance program. Responds to fire alarms and requests by Safety and Security for evacuation of passengers trapped in an elevator to provide a rapid reaction for emergency situations during assigned shifts.
