We are seeking a Clinical Operations Director of Trauma Services. The position is responsible for the operations of the Trauma Services at Christiana and Wilmington Hospital and assumes 24/7 responsibility for efficient, effective and safe care with a strong focus on quality, outcomes, and an interdisciplinary team approach in treating the critically injury patient through the continuum of care. These responsibilities include oversight over the Christiana Hospital Level I and Wilmington Hospital Level III Trauma Programs.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for the development, coordination and evaluation of clinical programs of nursing care, standards, education and research within the trauma services.
Ensures compliance with all applicable policies and procedures and legal/regulatory requirements established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and State of Delaware trauma regulations and standards.
Develops and manages relationships to maximize the impact of quality and satisfaction initiatives including developing strong relationships with medical staff, the leadership team and the leaders and staff of the patient care units. Provides ongoing communication with a focus on building trust and accountability.
Participates in and promotes the shared governance model of the Department of Nursing through an interdisciplinary approach to trauma committee structures and trauma operations.
Collaborates with the trauma program leadership teams in the development of strategic planning processes for campuses, contributing to and supporting the hospitals' strategic plan.
Manages the fiscal and budgetary demands placed on the trauma programs.
Defines specific expectations of accountability for management.
Maintains and evaluates clinical service performance according to standards in the Delaware Nurse Practice Act.
Maintains and evaluates clinical service performance and credentialing of Advanced Practice Clinicians.
Mentors and develops direct reports and others including helping them become excellent problem solvers and decision makers.
Participates in the development of trauma program policies, procedures and guidelines.
Participates as a member of the Delaware Trauma System Committee and Delaware Trauma System Quality Committee to ensure collaborative trauma care is provided throughout the state.
Provides guidance and direction to nursing leadership in clinical area to support the service excellence goals of Christiana Care Health System.
Promotes and participates in programs for the recruitment, retention, development and continuing education of nursing staff.
Acquires and maintains current knowledge in clinical services as well as administrative practice and industry trends.
Supports research and integrates into guidelines for the delivery of care to improve clinical outcomes.
Provides leadership in the development and implementation of mechanisms for recognizing the expertise and performance of staff engaged in patient care.
Provides leadership in developing and implementing mechanisms for collaboration among clinical staff, physicians and other practitioners.
Evaluates risk management/legal issues as they arise, provides guidance to personnel as indicated, and takes measures to prevent or correct such occurrences. Consults with Risk Management as appropriate.
Performs Trauma APRN roles as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Master's Degree required.
Minimum of five (5) years managerial experience in a trauma program setting.
Current RN licensure in State of DE.
Professional certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
