Provides Breast Surgery services to patients of the practice on both an out-and in-patient basis
Reports quality of care issues promptly to appropriate leaders and the facility where medical staff privileges are held through established mechanisms
Supervise non-physician providers as requested
Prepares patient records, charts and reports as appropriate
Call Coverage to patients as necessary
Create relationships with physicians and be available to physicians throughout the Inova Health System, and to primary care physicians to integrate their care and referrals within a comprehensive breast care program.
Participates in the education/training of Surgery residents as well as Breast Surgery fellows
Participates as a member of Inova Health System community education programs or community health promotions, including in the Life with Cancer program
Fulfills public relations and speaking engagements as requested.
Meets with the Medical Director, ISCI on a periodic basis to assure the successful growth and development of the clinical practice.
Participate actively in Program review and updates. Participate in review of charts to assure quality of ISCI services. Otherwise assist Program through discussions, consults, outpatient visits, review and analyses. Meet with administrators and staff regularly to review program and performance.
Provide input in identifying what the programmatic needs are for ISCI and Breast Surgery to include equipment, renovations, and design by location.
Provide input to purchasing and OR administration to establish competitive pricing and surgical costs.
Work with leadership to develop appropriate clinical pathways for treatment of patients.
Routinely review referral and support services provided through program to ensure that services meet expected quality and delivery standards.
Contribute to an assessment of the requirements regarding Center of Excellence designation.
Provides input to the Practice Manager, as appropriate, in the performance review process of practice's non-medical staff
Attends staff meetings and department meetings at the Inova Health System Facilities where active membership is held, including practice site and medical staff meetings.
Participates in all relevant QA/UR activities as required. Cooperates with Risk Management and participates in Risk Management activities
Permits the use of his/her name, photograph, and curriculum vitae for marketing purposes
Meet and evaluate potential physician and extender candidates for the practice
Assist in orientation of new practitioners to the practice
Direct reporting relationship to the Medical Director for Breast Surgery, ISCI.
Responsible to ISCI President for programmatic development and growth at the location where he/she is helping to lead.
