Reporting to the COO at the adult hospitals on center campus, directs the personnel, operational and financial activities of adult imaging services. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of programs and services within Imaging Services and has direct responsibility for Imaging Services which are standardized across the adult hospitals on center campus and managed at the local level. Oversees the creation of services and processes to support continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient clinical care. Responsible for the development of processes to improve and coordinate relevant communication between imaging departments within the hospital settings as well as with the providers of outpatient services. In collaboration with the COOs at the site, and in cooperation with others in the hospital and DMC System, assists in developing and implementing strategic plans and annual operating goals consistent with the strategic directions, objectives and policies of the Detroit Medical Center. Responsible for the development of clinical imaging programs as identified through executive planning and in collaboration with the site and the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) clinical experts. Develops, secures approval of and monitors compliance with short and long term operating and financial objectives for Imaging Services for the adult center campus hospitals. Directs practice, quality, personnel, and operations for Imaging Services at the adult hospitals. In collaboration with senior leadership and subordinate staff, plans, implements and evaluates processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence and customer service outcomes within the designated sites and services. Ensures that regulatory requirements/standards are communicated, implemented and monitored. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to plan, implement & evaluate activities related to department, hospital and DMC objectives. Models customer service excellence. Collaborates with senior leadership to effectively manage physician relations and physician practice process support for outpatient and or inpatient procedures. Plans, develops and implements growth/efficiency strategies for areas of responsibility. Identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management, input, goals and objectives. Oversees or directs the development, implementation and/or revision of functional procedures/protocols in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives. Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate. Provides input into the development and revision of organizational structure for functional departments. Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Develops current to intermediate goals and measures for areas of responsibility. Measures and Identifies opportunities for productivity and quality improvement. Provides support and expertise to resolve operational problems. Works closely with the Medical Chairmen of the departments. Integrates the department activities with Hospital objectives. Develops, monitors and controls operating and capital budgets for the various departments. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
1. Masters degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or related field, or actively pursuing with completion within 2 years of hire.*
2. Five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience in administrative capacities including a minimum of three years managing multiple hospital operations, preferably in a large heath care organization.
