VBC Analytics is a single, independent organization covering BSW Health and Quality Alliance (ACO) analytical needs. Domain verticals connect directly to core stakeholders and operational structures while aligning with internal SMEs and current capacities. We have over 1 million lives across multiple blocks of business and industry-leading analytics to support our organization.
We seek a stakeholder-facing Consultant to manage and support medical trends, utilization, and identification of strategic initiatives against external benchmarks specific to our growing Commercial and Direct to Employer (DTE) blocks.
Partnering with their Director to research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare cost data, providing management with meaningful statistical findings and conclusions, and identifying potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. This unique role offers a blend of support for internal teams such as Actuarial and Finance and customer-facing teams such as Business Development and Account Management.
Responsibility includes a combination of
Leverage medical and pharmaceutical claims and Electronic Health Record (EHR) data with statistical techniques to support our critical business development, financial, and employer stakeholders. (50% of the time),
Consult as primary analytical representative for the development of new business and relationships to support further growth (25% of the time),
Support organizational Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) through collaboration with the entire VBC Analytics team (18% of the time), and
Continue personal growth and development through weekly dedicated time (7%).
This role is a good fit for those familiar with payer contracting and medical trends while building your understanding of leading data assets and client management within Texas’ largest non-profit hospital systems and top-performing ACOs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Design and develop data queries, analyze reports to measure utilization, cost, and descriptive statistics, network performance, and assist in developing leadership presentations.
This position will work with large healthcare data sets in BSWH’s SQL data environment and see projects from conceptualization to completion by contributing to all aspects of the analytics lifecycle.
Coach and teach other more junior members of the team
Present analytical results within BSWH and to external customers
Update reports to support trend analysis
Act as a functional (SME)

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
- EXPERIENCE - 5 Years of Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
An expertise in analytical methodologies and algorithms
Solid foundation in SDLC methodologies – Agile and SCRUM
Great experience in understanding the healthcare ecosystem – the relationship between payers and providers, how they work together, and how analytics enables strategic transformation and growth
A Familiarity with alternative payment models, including shared-risk and capitation
Experience with PowerBI or other visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik)
