Conducts the operation of the Cytology Laboratory under supervision by assigned pathologist. Establishes, implements, and maintains policies and procedures to properly evaluate cytologic material. Demonstrates the knowledge and level of expertise to perform technical procedures, operates laboratory equipment, prepare stains and maintain related records and files, ensuring that established policies, practices, procedures and standards are followed.. Also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Education: Baccalaureate degree in biology, medical technology or closely related field with one (1) year of training in an accredited cytotechnology program/Baccalaureate degree in Cytotechnology. Must meet and maintain the qualifications for personnel performing high complexity testing as outlined in CLIA 88 regulations.
Experience: Three (3) years experience in a cytology laboratory as a cytotechnologist preferred. Must have current Florida Licensure in Cytotechnology, ASCP preferred. Experience with FNA immediate evaluations preferred.
